Saturday, December 1, 2007, marked the 21st consecutive year that our Chapter has performed free furnace safety inspections, repairs, and several replacement furnaces free to needy senior citizens in our communities. Eighteen member companies and a total of 42 volunteer employees contributed to complete 96 service calls in and around their respective areas. We completed calls in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties for needy seniors, military families, and single parents. Our calls were coordinated through the Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Area Agency on Aging Departments. Over the past 21 years, it is estimated that our group has completed over 1,500 free service calls and installed approximately 60 free furnaces. We have also installed 50 carbon monoxide alarms (free) for each of last four years. This year we also had two whole house duct cleaning services donated.
